A severe storm approaches: lower right you can see the precipitation core and next to it on the left is a rainfree area. The lowered region there is a shallow wallcloud / inflow structure. Upper left part of the tower and upper cloud structure can be seen.

Here is a close up view of the shallow wallcloud and to the right just above the trees is an arcing area of precipitation - a rainfoot.

Distant: What briefly appeared to me as a long slender funnel/tornado under a high cloud base forms and wraps in precipitation near Sentinel, Oklahoma

Here I am closer. You can just make out a hollow tube on the leading edge of the precip region under the inflow base. At the top i is darker and more conical. It snakes almost straight down to contact the ground.

The inflow area which displayed the funnel / possible tornado is now wrapped up in precipitation making it difficult to see what is actually going on here. I believe I can see a vertical tube in the middle (though it appears light). To the upper right you can see a pointed cloud feature. This is often seen near wallclouds and inflow regions and is associated typically with weak vortices of wind which may reach the ground. I can’t tell if that is responsible for all the wrapped precip on the left. There is quite a bit of motion near ground in the feature as I watched. |
